Salford Road was conceived and directed by Stefan Rudnicki who approached Richard Isen about composing music to the poetry of Gareth Owen. Gareth Owen is an accomplished Welsh poet, author, playwright and actor. The show was created by Mr. Rudnicki along with an ensemble of actors over a period of several months. It premiered at the Washington Square Church in NYC and was subsequently produced at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was awarded the coveted Fringe First Award.
Later, it was produced at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and the Woodstock Opera House. Versions of this show have been performed by several university theater departments.
This is version recorded live at the Woodstock Opera House with a 5 piece band. Arrangements by the wonderful Chris DeBlasio who also MD for the show in Woodstock. Very nicely performed but not a great recording. But it was 1986 I believe.
